Prague ShoppingIf you're taking a trip to the beautiful city of Prague, there are many wonderful shopping opportunities that await you there. Prague contains a number of department stores, shopping centers, malls, and souvenir shops. Whatever you're looking for and whatever your price range, there is shopping for everyone in Prague. If you would like to look at piece of shopping history before you begin your purchases, the place to go is The White Swan. This department store building, now falling apart, is an indication of what shopping used to be like in Prague in the 1970's. If you would like to go to a department store from the same time period that is still functioning and is a great place to shop, you'll want to be at The Anchor. It still sells items today, though it has had some struggles. There are also some imported British department stores here, such as Debenhams and Marks and Spencer. The crowning jewel of department stores in Prague, though, is Tesco. This department store does quite well and has locations throughout the Czech Republic. There are also a number of shopping malls in Prague. Some highlights of the best malls to visit in Prague include Myslbek Shopping Gallery, which was one of Prague's first shopping malls and has about thirty different shops for you to browse, the Slavic House, where you can find a variety of stores and restaurants, as well as a pleasant garden and a movie theatre, Palác Flóra, a fairly large mall with a food court and an IMAX movie theatre, and PALLADIUM, one of the newest and largest shopping malls in Prague with over 170 stores. In addition to all of the fancy department stores and shopping malls that you can visit in Prague, there are many small stores lining the streets everywhere, which are good places to stop in a buy souvenirs or a piece of Prague culture. You can find anything from the very expensive to the best bargains. Some typical items that you might find at these stores include beads and jewelry, crystal, puppets, wooden toys, and a variety of traditionally made crafts and household goods. |
